Muchas gracias

Hospital FREMAP Vigo is a highly specialized private medical facility located in the heart of Vigo, Galicia. As a 'Mutua Colaboradora con la Seguridad Social,' it operates under a unique Spanish framework where it functions as a private, non-profit entity that manages professional contingencies, including work-related accidents and occupational diseases. For tourists and international visitors, this facility stands out as a premier center for trauma and orthopedic care, areas in which FREMAP is a recognized national leader in Spain. The hospital provides 24/7 emergency services specifically tailored toward acute trauma, bone fractures, and musculoskeletal injuries, making it a critical resource for travelers who may experience accidents while hiking, participating in water sports, or navigating the urban environment of Vigo. Unlike general public hospitals, FREMAP Vigo offers a more streamlined, specialist-driven environment where patients with orthopedic needs can receive rapid diagnostic and surgical intervention.

The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, including advanced diagnostic imaging suites featuring high-resolution MRI, CT scans, and digital X-ray systems. These tools are essential for the hospital’s core mission of providing immediate and accurate assessments of traumatic injuries. Surgical capabilities at Hospital FREMAP Vigo are extensive, with multiple operating rooms designed for complex orthopedic procedures, including spinal surgery, limb reconstruction, and arthroscopic interventions. For patients requiring intensive monitoring, the hospital maintains specialized critical care and recovery units that are staffed by expert anesthesiologists and intensive care specialists. This ensures that even high-risk surgical patients receive the highest standard of post-operative care.

Inpatient services at FREMAP Vigo are designed with patient comfort and recovery in mind. The hospital features modern, private rooms that offer a quiet environment conducive to healing, which is a significant advantage over the often crowded wards of public general hospitals. Outpatient services are equally robust, focusing on specialized consultations, follow-up care, and an extensive rehabilitation department. The rehabilitation center is a cornerstone of the facility, offering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and specialized equipment to help patients regain mobility following an injury or surgery. For international tourists, the hospital’s proximity to the Vigo-Peinador Airport (approximately 15 minutes by car) and the major port area makes it a strategic choice for emergency medical repatriation or stabilization before travel.

While FREMAP Vigo is primarily focused on work-related accidents for Spanish residents, its emergency department is prepared to stabilize any patient in a life-threatening situation. For non-work-related tourist emergencies, the hospital works closely with major private travel insurance providers. English-speaking staff and translation services are available to assist international patients, ensuring that medical histories and treatment plans are clearly understood. The hospital's administrative team is experienced in coordinating with foreign embassies and insurance companies to facilitate direct billing and medical reporting. Whether it is a minor fracture or a complex multi-trauma incident, Hospital FREMAP Vigo provides a level of specialized care that is essential for travelers facing unexpected medical crises in the northwestern region of Spain.
