Full Details
Farmàcia Passeig Marítim is a premier pharmaceutical institution located in one of the most prestigious and vibrant districts of Ibiza. Situated at Carrer del Ceramista Joan Daifa, 2, within the Edificio Transa, this pharmacy serves as a critical health hub for both the local community and the international tourist population that frequents the Marina Botafoch area. Its location is strategically chosen to provide maximum convenience for visitors staying in luxury hotels such as the Ibiza Corso, OD Talamanca, and the Sir Joan Hotel, as well as for those arriving via the nearby ferry terminals or docking at the exclusive yacht moorings. The pharmacy is easily accessible on foot for those strolling along the scenic Passeig Marítim and offers proximity to Talamanca Beach, making it a go-to destination for sun-related health needs and emergency medical supplies.
While the pharmacy operates under standard business hours—opening from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturdays—it is deeply integrated into the Ibiza 'Farmacia de Guardia' (on-call) system. In Spain, pharmacies rotate the responsibility of providing 24-hour emergency service. When Farmàcia Passeig Marítim is not on duty after hours, a notice is clearly posted in the storefront window directing patients to the nearest open 24-hour pharmacy. This system ensures that even when the doors are closed, residents and tourists have a clear path to obtaining life-saving medication. For international visitors, navigating a foreign healthcare system can be daunting; however, Farmàcia Passeig Marítim bridges this gap with a team of highly trained, English-speaking pharmacists. These professionals are adept at translating medical needs and providing consultations that go beyond simple transactions, offering peace of mind to those who may not speak Spanish or Catalan.
Prescription fulfillment is a core service at Farmàcia Passeig Marítim, handled with the utmost professionalism and adherence to Spanish health regulations. For tourists from the European Union, the pharmacy can often process the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or EU-standardized prescriptions, provided they contain all necessary legal information (prescriber details, patient ID, and generic drug names). For visitors from outside the EU, such as the United States or the UK, the staff is experienced in guiding patients on how to have their foreign prescriptions validated or when a visit to a local Ibiza doctor is necessary to obtain a Spanish-equivalent script. The pharmacy maintains a robust stock of both branded and generic medications, ensuring that chronic conditions can be managed without interruption during a holiday.
Beyond prescriptions, the pharmacy specializes in over-the-counter (OTC) solutions and high-end health products. Given Ibiza's climate, they carry an extensive range of dermatological products and sun protection. They stock premium brands like ISDIN, La Roche-Posay, and Avène, which are essential for the intense Mediterranean sun. Additionally, the pharmacy is a vital resource for travel-specific health issues, offering effective treatments for jellyfish stings, mosquito-borne irritation, and digestive upsets often associated with travel. For those enjoying the famous Ibiza nightlife, the pharmacy provides a wide array of rehydration salts, vitamins, and liver support supplements. They also offer discreet access to emergency contraception (the 'morning-after pill'), which is available in Spain without a prescription, providing a vital service for emergency reproductive health.
Tourist-friendly services are a hallmark of this location. Recognizing that many visitors may have forgotten essential items, the pharmacy stocks a comprehensive selection of baby care products, including specialized formulas, diapers, and soothing creams. They also provide medical equipment for those who might need it during their stay, such as first-aid kits for boat trips or basic mobility aids. For those concerned about current health climates, the pharmacy offers rapid COVID-19 antigen tests and professional advice on local health protocols. The staff's ability to provide medication counseling in English ensures that dosage instructions and potential side effects are clearly understood, significantly reducing the risk of medication errors for international guests.
Accessibility is further enhanced by the pharmacy's proximity to public transport and taxi ranks. While the immediate area is bustling, there is typically parking available in the vicinity for those driving from other parts of the island. The storefront is modern and welcoming, designed to provide a calm environment for health consultations. Over the years, Farmàcia Passeig Marítim has built a reputation for excellence, reflected in its 4.0-star rating. This reputation is built on a foundation of serving a diverse, international clientele with the same level of care and expertise one would expect from a private clinic. Whether you are a tourist needing a quick box of paracetamol, a yacht crew member seeking professional medical supplies, or a local resident managing a long-term prescription, Farmàcia Passeig Marítim stands as a beacon of health and reliability in the heart of Ibiza's maritime district.
