  • They are known for providing personalized, high-quality veterinary medicine with a focus on both preventative care and surgical interventions.
  • Why Tourists Choose Them:

  • Located in the southwest of the island, it is the most convenient clinic for visitors staying in Cala Tarida, Cala Vadella, and San José.
  • The staff is highly experienced in handling international pet travel requirements and English-speaking clients.
  • Key Services:

  • EU Pet Passports and travel certifications.
  • General surgery and internal medicine.
  • Emergency stabilization and diagnostic imaging.
  • Standout Features:

  • A long-standing reputation for honesty and "fair pricing" compared to larger corporate clinics.
  • Deeply integrated into the local expat community, offering a more personal touch than high-volume hospitals.
  • What Customers Say

With a 4.3-star rating from 42 reviews, the sentiment is overwhelmingly positive. Customers frequently praise the clinic for its 'professionalism' and 'genuine care' for animals. A recurring theme in the reviews is the honesty of the staff, with one user noting they 'don't try to sell you unnecessary treatments.' Specific praise is often directed at the lead veterinarian for being 'calm, knowledgeable, and patient' with nervous pets. Some reviewers mentioned that while the facility is smaller than the major 24-hour hospitals in Ibiza Town, the quality of diagnostics and surgery is top-tier. A few minor complaints center around the limited morning-only opening hours, which can make scheduling difficult for those working standard shifts.

    About This Practice

  • Clínica Veterinaria Sant Josep is a cornerstone of the pet-care community in the southwest of Ibiza. Specializing in small animal medicine, the clinic serves a diverse mix of local Spanish residents, year-round expats, and seasonal tourists.
  • The practice is particularly well-suited for international visitors due to their familiarity with European pet regulations and the specific health challenges pets face in the Mediterranean climate (such as Leishmaniasis).
  • Facility & Team

  • The facility is equipped with modern diagnostic tools, including digital X-ray and ultrasound equipment, allowing for rapid on-site assessments.
  • The team is led by experienced practitioners who have spent years operating in the Balearic Islands, ensuring they are well-versed in local veterinary standards and common regional pathologies.
  • Staff are confirmed to be multilingual, comfortably handling consultations in both Spanish and English, which is vital for the large British and northern European community in Sant Josep.
  • What to Expect During Your Visit

  • The clinic operates on a highly personalized basis. Unlike larger hospitals, you will likely see the same veterinarian each time, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Given the limited opening hours (Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings), it is highly recommended to book in advance. The atmosphere is professional yet welcoming, designed to minimize stress for the animals.
  • Location & Accessibility

  • Situated on Carrer del Metge, the clinic is in the center of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, just a short walk from the main church and town square.
  • While the street is narrow, there is usually public parking available within a 3-5 minute walk in the village's municipal lots.
  • The clinic is on the ground floor, making it fully accessible for pet carriers and owners with mobility issues.
  • Why Tourists Choose Them

  • Tourists staying in the southwest of the island often prefer this clinic to avoid the 20-30 minute drive into Ibiza Town.
  • They are experts in processing the paperwork required for pets returning to the UK or mainland Europe, including deworming treatments and health certificates.
  • Safety & Standards

  • The clinic adheres to strict Spanish veterinary standards and maintains high hygiene protocols. While they do not offer 24/7 emergency walk-ins due to their schedule, they typically provide guidance on where to go for after-hours care if a patient requires hospitalization.
